Dynamo-Moscow will play 3 games with Japan team “Hamamatsu-Higashimikawa Phoenix” – one of the best teams from the BJ League. Games will be the 6, 7, 8 October at 18.30 (local time).
The BJ League is one of the more unique leagues in the world. And in Japan, its a league that is pushing the envelope for sports business. The league is All-professional, which separates itself from the JBL. The league emphasizes sports entertainment, which is similar to the Pacific League in Nippon Pro Baseball (NPB). Each team in the league stresses local interaction, which is similar to the J-League 100-year plan. From reading the previous examples, the BJ League would standout because of its adventurous tactics for sports business and creativity. However, the BJ League is most famous for its unique rule of having no limit on import players.
And one unique team and coach is pushing hard to diversify its team and all but assure themselves a championship in its inaugural season: the Hamamatsu-Higashimikawa Phoenix and Head Coach Kazuo Nakamura .
Now, Nakamura is no stranger in pushing the envelope.
Nakamura has coached high school, college, women, the JBL, and now is taking the unique step in being a coach of a professional franchise. And throughout his career, he has been known for coming up with trick defenses, and unique concepts to confuse and overcome his opponents. He obviously isnt planning to stop test the system, which would be the on-the-court-free rule.
For the last three years, teams in the league would sign three-to-five imports, but there was always an unwritten rule where each team would only put three imports on the floor in order to play their Japanese players.
However, Hamamatsu seems to have another player. Hamamatsu has 8 foreigners on its roster and they are from various parts of the globe. Four players: Andy Ellis, Vernon Hamilton, Michel Tabb, and Adam Zahn are from the U.S. Two players are from Korea (Kim Jungyoon and Back Sunghyoon). And finally, two players are from China (Haimo Chen and Sun Ming Ming).
